    Jacobite Army. The bulk of the Jacobite Army was made up of "Highlanders" and was raised by both volunteers and forced recruits. A large number of men which made up the Jacobite Army were volunteers. These men made up the gentlemen (officers), cavalry and lowland units, and as such did much of the fighting during the campaign.
